Dissection is a hands-on experience that will teach us about about the parts of the animal/plant we are learning about. Without actually dissecting the organism we won't really know how it actually look like we will only see pictures of it. Also we won't really understand the functions of it until we actually see how it looks like and how it affects the plant. The study of plants and animals is important to biological studies because animal parts are very similar to the human body. Since we can't dissect a human body we can dissect an animal to learn about the similar functions of our organs.
